about

The Flaneur is an alias of mine. Although I put it out anonymously on Soundcloud 3 months or so ago, here it is released for the first time.

In No Great Hurry is an EP inspired by many things. Notably: the idea of the French literary urban type "Flaneur"which I learned about from a Malcolm McClaren interview. Also the photography of the first color photographer Saul Leiter. He shoots like a Flaneur of NYCs streets. Also post modernism *ignoring whats cool at a time, doing something beyond modern*, early rave production style (this EP was made entirely with one library of one shot synth and drum samples, a few found sounds all loaded into the Maschine. With the exception of In No Great Hurry which is a patch I made on the Yamaha DX21 being played and tweaked live and nothing else.

In No Great Hurry is an EP about being free to roam. Always taking the road you never walked. Working with set limitations in your most expressive way. The album is also inspired by the more freaky side of deep house and techno artists like Moodymann, Drexciya, Theo Parrish, Legowelt but also oldskool UK rave by the likes of Orbital and SL2.

It is likely this is the only release with this alias, although never say never with Slinger.
